About the Faculty

The Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Technical Science provides a high level of education within the broadest possible range of fields of study and specializations, preparing highly qualified specialists. The teaching mission is carried out in four fields: Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology Education, and Computer Science (first- and second-cycle degree studies), conducted on a full-time and part-time basis for over a thousand students, doctoral studies (Physics and Mathematics), postgraduate studies and educational programmes that are launched according to the needs of the labour market. Following the requirements of modern higher education, and in order to create the possibility of personal development in students’ own path of education, programmes in a modular system have been prepared. The educational activity of the Faculty considers the pedagogical character of the University and its traditions in the education of teachers and conducting research in the field of education. The academic achievements and research conducted at the highest world level are the strengths of the faculty. Thanks to funds obtained from the EU, modern laboratories (e.g. lasers, Mössbauer spectroscope, dielectric physics, surface physics, neurodidactics, modern computational cluster) have been launched. Also, the high achievements of the Astronomical Observatory of the Pedagogical University of Cracow on Mount Suhora in the classification of astronomical units are worth noting.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Humanities is the oldest basic organizational element of the Pedagogical University of Cracow. The pillars of the faculty’s strategy are the education and training of the students. The development of academic staff, national and international cooperation with strong research centres, applications for grants and research funding, especially for young researchers, as well as raising the quality of the scientific journals of the Faculty are particularly important. We care about the internationalization of the educational process, broadening the educational offer and making it more attractive. Collaboration with external stakeholders, economic and educational institutions, museums, schools and the local community is an important part of this process. Students receive great support from the competent staff, and are provided with a rich educational offer that includes the opportunity to participate in research works and study trips.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Philology educates students in seven fields of study, which are the following: Polish Philology, Speech Therapy, Culture and Media Studies, Information Architecture, Information Management and Digital Publishing, Scientific Information and Library Science, Philology in six languages (English, Germanic, Romance, Russian, Spanish, Italian). The Faculty also offers postgraduate and doctoral studies. It is organized into three institutes: The Institute of Polish Philology, The Institute of Modern Languages, and The Institute of Information Science, which are divided into 31 chairs and 11 laboratories. There are two research units in the Faculty structure: the Centre for Media Research, and the Digital Humanities Laboratory. The Faculty staff conduct research in the broad sense of philology and actively cooperate with educational institutions (schools and counseling centres), research institutions (libraries and information centres), health care (speech therapy diagnostics) and enterprises (publishing houses, the media, Internet portals).
